It is January again, which means that the industry-dividing idea of doing a dryanuary, or dry-january is back. From a health point of view, this is of course not something to be mocked. Of course though, coming from the biased position of being part of the licensed trade, we are not exactly big fans of the idea: January is already a miserable lemonth for us, especially at the moment, so encouraging people to dodge the pub is a further blow. But, you have to roll with things like this, so as well as being advocates of the counter promo of “Tryanauary” (encouraging people to, in moderation, try new beers, new breweries and new styles and to support independent producers and sellers) we also like to see how we can support customers who have made the choice to abstain for a month.
