Death Is a Girl combines the groove of Prince and Rick James, with a dash of Deftones and the rocking musical vibes of Jeff Buckley, QOTSA and sprinklings of Mars Volta. This fusing of rock, funk, blues with a pinch of jazz creates a style of rock music normally heavy enough to mosh to, but groovy enough to dance to. However, we get the band in more considered, stripped back mode, which brings the blues and funk to the fore and highlights the soulful nature of ex-EMP!RE front man Joe Green’s stunning voice.
