One of the key people instrumental in the physical aspect of setting up The Tuppenny was David Young, who helped immeasurably with DIY skill, tools, ideas and motivation. Dave was the former gaffer of The Vic and 12 Bar so a key figure in the music scene, one of the drivers of The Shuffle and for a long time, Linda’s boss.
Sadly, Dave lost a hard fought battle with cancer in June, so Ed, Paj and Dave’s wife Anna along with Jamie from Swindon Link and Dave’s friend Andy Loddington took it upon themselves to organise a proper grand send off for him in the style of a full on music festival, all in aid of Prospect Hospice, who had cared for him in his final months. Working with South Swindon Parish Council this intrepid team managed to fill The Bowl in Town Gardens! The Tuppenny couldn’t not get involved so we set up and ran the bar, and donated all profits to the cause.
