There is always plenty going on at The Tuppenny, from live music to brewery events (see our listing below). Each week we host The Thursday Night Music Club, brought to you by the finger-on-the-musical-pulse team at SoPLive, where you will discover the cream of local and national underground music, guaranteed to be incredible and different to any other venue in town. They also bring a more chilled vibe to one Sunday each month with The Sunday Social, an early-evening session of live folk music.
We want to support live music so we pay all our artists and respect their sound by having a professional sound engineer and decent equipment. We keep our gigs free entry, but what we ask of you is to give generously to the tip-jar if you’ve enjoyed it. Every penny goes to the artists and the bigger the tips the more likely they’ll come and play again.
We love quizzing so the middle Wednesday each month is the home of The Hump Day Quiz – a winner-takes-all mix of questions and challenges to test your brain and unearth hidden talents. Then the last Sunday of the month always brings us the idiocy of the Monthly Music Quiz as the lads from the Swindon Shuffle music festival entertain, educate, argue amongst themselves and raise money for Prospect Hospice.
Our resident DJ GigMonkey bring us Home Comforts, a monthly night of eclectic musical soundtracking and we host an eclectic mix of DJ’s on other weekend nights. often playing out vinyl. Dates vary so keep an eye on listings.
We also host The Tuppenny Blitz Chess Club – speed chess for the impatient! Look out for these on the second Monday of the month. Newcomers always welcome!
